Music is essentially a practical subject. Children are encouraged to sing, compose and work creatively with sound. Through active listening, pupils’ awareness, understanding and appreciation of a wide variety of music are developed.
Children benefit from an array of music specialism through lessons with drumming, guitar, violin and keyboard. The children who enjoy these lessons have been able to grow in confidence with their selected instruments and share their successes each term with their peers by performing in our Gold Book Assemblies. As part of our progressional music
curriculum, Key Stage 1 have weekly ukulele lessons, with fantastic results and Key
Stage 2 receive class guitar lessons. We also have a school choir who sing annually at
Eldon Square at Christmas time to help raise money for the Children’s Foundation, they also take part in The Big Sing, one of the biggest primary school gigs in the North Eas
