At Sacred Heart we are very proud of our wide range of extra curricular activities. These are planned with enthusiasm and dedication by teachers and in the best interests of the students.
Clubs are a very important part of school life as they give children a chance to try out activities which may form only a limited part of the taught curriculum. By becoming involved in an extra curricular club children can develop their own special interests and abilities.
Our clubs take place during lunch break or after school. Some are run voluntarily by members of staff or parents, for other clubs we employ expert outside providers.
The programmes of clubs and activities available is revised termly depending on the time of year and other commitments children may have.
In the past year we have been able to offer:
Choir, Craft, Drama, Dance, Art, Sewing
Football, Netball, Gymnastics, Dance, Golf, Cricket, Multi-Sports
French, Spanish, Italian, Japenese
Ukulele, Recorder, Guitar
Recent events have included:
Choir: School of Rock is our vibrant school choir here at Sacred Heart, with a passion for celebrating the power of song. Our concerts and practices are fun and exciting but it’s also our aim to take our singing into the community. Incorporating musical instruments and popular music the children enjoy and relish in the inspiring musical repertoire our school has to offer.
Dance: Dance Club performed at The Sage’s annual Dance Festival. Sacred Heart performed alongside 77 other schools from across the region, and looked fantastic on stage doing it. The 21-strong group of girls from Years 1-5 performed ‘Fame’ at the musical themed event, complete with neon bright tutus, legwarmers and armbands. The girls had an amazing time learning the routine and have really come on in leaps and bounds since September with their dancing. They have committed two evenings a week and numerous lunchtimes on top of this to rehearsals, all of which has certainly paid off.
