This week in year 3 we have been very busy learning a lot about our new topic the Romans. On Friday we had a special visitor in our class which was very exciting.  Richard taught us a lot of fantastic facts about Romans. He started by teaching us how to march like Romans. We really enjoyed learning the Latin phrases that would have been shouted whilst in battle training. We cannot wait to put them to practise next week in our class Roman march.

Next, we got to try on the armour they would have worn whilst going into battle. We found that the hat, metal vest and shield were all extremely heavy. We also shared different roman artefacts such as hand made pottery, spears and daggers. We loved looking at the ancient tools.

We were even lucky enough to be taught how to write our names in latin and roman numerals, using bamboo pens and inc.
