World Book Day
The children and staff always enjoy World Book day! From Harry Potter to Alice in Wonderland, the children experience an array of creative activities. The children get the opportunity to experience literature in its true form and always arrive home with lots of goodies they make.
Chinese New Year
We celebrate Chinese New Year in school with a delicious Chinese banquet. Ella’s mum and dad have always prepared and donated a fabulous array of Chinese food for all children to taste and sample which includes vegetable spring rolls, boiled rice, vegetable noodles, sweetcorn and sweet and sour sauce etc.
National Storytelling Week runs in January/February. Over the past few years this has gone from strength to strength, encouraging all families to take part in creating and enjoying storytelling.
Anti-Bullying Week falls in November, and is now in its thirteenth year. The focus of the week will be to raise the issue of anti-Bullying in school and reinforce the school council’s anti-bullying policy
National Poetry Day is the nation’s biggest celebration of poetry. In October the children enjoyed jumping on board the poetry express. From class acrostic poems to rhythmic Harry potter rhymes the children enjoyed a fun packed morning. Y5 & Y6 children looked at Epitaphs — a short poem or phrase which remembers something that has gone forever. The children really enjoyed sharing their poems with the class and read them out in different ways. The poems really were excellent and ranged from birds and rainbows to the seasons and Kingswood. Keep an eye opening when visiting school to see a celebration of the children’s fantastic work.
