In our creative lesson this week, we took a look at the types of food that the Greeks would have been able to grow in their Empire. We looked at the Greek diet and discussed the seasonality and what foods were grown in Ancient Greece, referring back to physical geography. We used our knowledge of a healthy diet to distinguish which food groups these foods were in before deciding whether they were healthy or not. We tried traditional Greek food such as pitta bread, hummus, feta cheese, cucumber, olives and more. We prepared our very own Greek salad and used our safe culinary skills when cutting our ingredients. We used the claw grip and showed safe knife skills to cut up our vegetables.
