Every year we organise a residential visit to the Dukeshouse Wood Educational Activity Centre, Hexham for our Year 5 and 6 children.
Kingswood is the leading residential activity centre provider, welcoming over 130,000 children each year. Their centres provide a rewarding educational programme offering many National Curriculum linked modules combined with thrilling outdoor and indoor adventure activities, with secure and controlled residential accommodation. Their Dukeswood House Centre is set in an 18 acre adventure park and equipped with a host of exciting and challenging adventure activities; including high ropes, zipwire, 3G swing and leap of faith, plus climbing and abseiling. They also have an all-weather activity barn providing a perfect indoor environment for climbing, problem solving initiatives and computing modules. Its rural location and private woodland provide an ideal area for eco trails, orienteering and bushcraft, as well as fun and challenging activities including aeroball and archery
Residential courses organised by the school are optional but an invaluable part of the National Curriculum. Pupils benefit hugely from the experience both educationally and socially and I feel certain that the Adventure Choice Programme which we have chosen this year will prove to be both enjoyable and very worthwhile. In the last six years we have had many successful residentials in this amazing outdoor setting.
