On Monday, Year 6 were fortunate enough to go on their first school trip since they were in Year 4! The children went to the Nissan Factory in Sunderland for their Monozukuri Caravan event where they were able to learn all about the history of Nissan.
After their introduction to the company, the children were able to build their very own cars using some lego. The whole class loved this and they really got to show their creativity. Once they had created their own, they were then shown how they could build a nissan car using the parts they had been given. Working in teams, they then created their own production line where each child had a specific job to do. The class worked very well together but soon realised there must be a more efficient way to complete their tasks. Using their teamwork skills, the children came up with a few solutions to help them build their cars quicker. In the end, the class managed to get their average time to build the car down to 2.12 minutes – a course record!
Following their lunch break, the children were able to try out some of the tools and machinery that workers use on the factory floor. They were able to test their reaction times and their strength with an array of tasks.
Overall the children absolutely loved their day and we were very grateful to be given the opportunity to take the children. Thank you Nissan!
