The children began their work on decimals by recapping their previous work on rounding and rounding numbers with 3 decimal places to the nearest whole number, tenth and hundredth. The children were given a few problems to solve which were discussed and then we moved on to play a game.
First of all, the children worked together to match the questions and answers on the sides of the triangles to make a shape. Next, the children played a game of dominoes. Each side had a question and answer related to rounding. The children had to match up each question and answer to win the game. This fun activity tested the children’s ability to round whole numbers to the nearest thousand to rounding numbers with 3 decimal places to the nearest hundredth.
