Following on from our previous lessons rounding 7-digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10,000,100,000 and 1,000,000 we looked at using our rounding knowledge to play a game.
The children worked in mixed ability pairs to put together a jigsaw of triangles to make a hexagon. Each triangle had a rounding related question or answer on its sides which needed to be matched up. Once the children had matched up all the questions and answers in the correct place, they had formed their hexagon. The children then moved on to playing a game of dominoes with the triangles. These fun activities tested the children’s ability to round 7-digit numbers which they did very well.
