Space Week

As part of World Space Week, year 3 looked closely at the famous space artist Peter Thorpe. We looked at the work he has produced and analysed it – we noticed that he used bright colours and often had unusual backgrounds. We later found the terminology for this was abstract and he always had an object in the foreground. We then got started creating our own abstract backgrounds.

Once our backgrounds were created, it was time to add paint. We carefully followed the faint lines we had made with our pain and let it dry. While our paint was drying, we moved onto our rocket. This is the item that is going to be in the foreground so we wanted it to stand out, we decided to colour it using water colours.

Once our work was dry, we glued the rocket onto the abstract background to create the overall picture. We are very impressed with our work.
