We’ve had a crazy week this week in Year 6, so much has happened.
To begin, the children were asked to “create an animal” during half term for us to use in our Liturgy. Some of the creations that we had in were incredible and it was clear that some of the children spent an awful lot of time focused on getting their animals complete.
On Wednesday we had our Liturgy and there was a fantastic turn out. Parent’s came to see the children in their last Liturgy in our school hall. The whole thing (including script and booklet) was prepared for and organised by the children. They have been inspired by our latest Literacy book, The One and Only Ivan. The book is based on a gorilla called Ivan who lived in a circus at The Big Top Mall in America. During Literacy the class have done research on animals in their natural habitat and in captivity. This seemed to spark a great passion in the class which is what led us to our Liturgy topic. Once they decided their topic they could pick a relevant piece of scripture, gather, respond and go forth.
In numeracy this week, we have been looking at converting different units of measurement. We’ve had such a successful week that it felt like we had 35 teachers in the classroom!
For our weekly booster sessions we decided to go outdoors on both Wednesday and Thursday night.
