We began our second lesson on mixed operations by using six number cards (1,2,3,4,5,6) and any operation to make different answers. The children worked in pairs, then we discussed the different ways that children had found their answers; highlighting the importance of the order of operations. The children were then given their main activity for the lesson: The children rolled the dice to make four numbers. They rolled once more to get the value of the expression. Using the first four numbers, the children made a number sentence that gave the value of the expression; using any of the four operations. The children really enjoyed working together on this investigation. Well done!
