On Friday 8th May 2020, was the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Although we weren’t able to celebrate in our normal way, Year 3 got involved with the celebrations by decorating their homes! I loved seeing the VE Day bunting and posters that were made to celebrate this very special day. A Year 3 child was also very lucky to speak to her Grandma, who was 8 on VE day 75 years ago, who explained about what life was like during WW2. She shared her knowledge of gas masks, rationing, blackout curtains and the wardens – how interesting! We remember how very lucky and thankful we are, 75 years on, for all of those who risked their lives and those who died in battle in the fight to make our country and our lives better. To all war veterans, we salute you.
