What a wonderful day Year 1 have had on their trip to Beamish! We began our day by getting into the festive spirit and learning all about Christmas traditions in the past. The children got their hands sticky making traditional ginger cookies, they made fantastic wooden dolls using fabric and pegs and had lots of fun playing hide the thimble and pin the tail on the donkey in front of the cosy log fire. We then stepped into our time machine and travelled back to the Victorian era where we went to school to take part in a Victorian lesson – it was very different to Sacred Heart! We finished our day with a surprise visit to Santa and his reindeer’s. A truly wonderful day had by all.
