Our Science topic this term is Rocks. Today, we gathered together several different rocks and evaluated their properties. We began by choosing the rock and feeling it to discover whether we thought it was hard or soft. We were then able to test the rocks durability by trying to mold it using our fingers or hitting it against a hard object to see whether the rock broke apart or stayed whole. Lastly, we tested the rocks density. We did this by submerging it in water, if it floated it meant that the rock had a low density and if the rock sunk it means that it had a high density. We really enjoyed testing the different rocks and learning new rock names such as granite and limestone.
